The Small Business Energy Program

The Mile High Business Alliance is working with the Denver Office of Environmental Health and other partners to provide information and resources to locally owned businesses to help reduce energy consumption and improve renewable energy infrastructure. Less energy means less cost!
Our program provides education, free support services, and financial assistance to small businesses and business districts in the City and County of Denver. Our goal is to help businesses save money, increase energy efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Program ComponentsThe Denver Small Business Program may include the following...
The project team will meet with you to provide an overview of the project, conduct the Energy Consultation, and provide follow-up support in reducing your energy use. Additionally, we can connect you with other programs to take your energy commitment to the next level of efficiency with renewable energy sources and carbon off-sets. |
How does this help your business?Energy efficiency not only helps lower business costs but also helps to protect our environment and natural resources. If as a whole we can lower the energy needed, then we can reduce the energy generated at power plants, which then in turn helps lower greenhouse gas emissions and that creates better quality air. Being more efficient saves your business money and frees up spending in other domains. On average, energy efficient solutions save businesses about 20 to 30% on their energy bills. |
What Business Owners Say
Other major cities throughout Colorado have been working on similar programs to make energy efficiency possible at the small business level. Here is some feedback about the program....
"We wanted to become "more green" and lessen our carbon footprint. And we wanted to save money, if possible, on our energy costs. We saw a 30% decrease in energy bills — this project has been saving us between $1,000 - $1,200/month in energy costs! ... The quality of the new lights is better than we had before — it is a cleaner light." - Budget Home Center, Longmont, CO
"Our largest costs at the Y are utility bills. We did this project to save electricity and to keep our membership rates from rising. The EnergySmart program made our part easy, and the project was amazingly beneficial. We've noticed significant energy savings. On top of that, the quality of lighting in the gym has improved a great deal; there are no more blind spots. We could not recommend this program enough." - Longmont YMCA, Longmont, CO
